“The Truth of Mohammad (PBUH) and Jesus Christ (AS) in View of Ibn Arabi and Eckhart” Published

Authored by Emdad Touran, the book “The Truth of Mohammad (PBUH) and Jesus Christ (PBUH) in View of Ibn Arabi and Meister Eckhart” has been published by the University of Religions and Denominations.

It has been compiled in 4 chapters under the titles of “Common Viewpoints to Seek the Truth of Mohammad (PBUH) and Jesus Christ (PBUH), Status of Mohammad (PBUH) in Ibn Arabi’s Existential Theory, Status of Jesus Christ (PBUH) in Meister Eckhart’s Existentialism, as well as The Truth of Mohammad (PBUH) and Jesus Christ (PBUH) in View of Ibn Arabi and Meister Eckhart and a Comparison of the Status of Mohammad (PBUH) and Jesus Christ (PBUH).

The first chapter deals with fundamental questions concerning the truth of Mohammad (PBUH) and Jesus Christ (PBUH), Greek ideology and its impact on Islamic and Christian mysticisms, and principles of a single existential model for Greek, Christian and Islamic mysticisms.

The second chapter includes topics like the truth of Mohammad (PBUH) in the Divinity, the truth of Mohammad (PBUH) in the universe, as well as the truth of Mohammad (PBUH) and creatures’ return to their essence and origin.

Jesus Christ (PBUH) at the Divine level, Jesus Christ (PBUH) and the creation, and Jesus Christ (PBUH) and the stages of man’s move toward his essence constitutes the major subjects of the third chapter.

Topics like the truth of Mohammad (PBUH) and Jesus Christ (PBUH) as the word of God and the truth of Mohammad (PBUH) and Jesus Christ (PBUH) as the face of God have been investigated in the fourth and last chapter of the book.

The fourth chapter also includes discussions on the essential status of Mohammad (PBUH) and Jesus Christ (PBUH), the truth of Mohammad (PBUH) and Jesus Christ (PBUH) as intermediaries of the Divine grace, Ibn Arabi’s resort to the Trinity, Eckhart’s reliance on monotheism, etc.

As the author writes in the epilogue: “Although Ibn Arabi and Eckhart are followers of two different religions which have basic clashes at times, their ontological models are more or less similar in terms of the status of God, man and the universe. The similarity has not appeared by accident but is rooted in a single origin, i.e. the Greek Mysticism that has inspired the two philosophers to seek the same truth regardless of their different religious teachings.”

Also, the back cover of the book reads: “The present book narrates the past, present and future story of man in view of two eminent scholars Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi and Meister Eckhart. Man is viewed as a part of the Divine source who will one day return to his original essence.”

The book has been written by Emdad Touran and published in 1000 copies by the University of Religions and Denominations.
