New Translation of Shahnameh Unveiled in Georgia

On the occasion of Iranian New Year, unveiling ceremony for new translation of Shahnameh (The Book of Kings) into Georgian language held on March 15, 2012.

According to the public relations office of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), the Ceremony opened with the attendance of Iranian ambassador to Georgia, Iranian Cultural attaché, head of Author Association, some translators, cultural and literal figures from Iran and Georgia.

Ehsan Khazaei Iranian Cultural attaché to Tiflis during the opening ceremony said: "It is a great honor for all of us that on the occasion of Iranian New Year we are unveiling a new translation of Shahnameh into Georgian language and then we are speaking about the Shahnamehs position in Georgia."

"Publication of this book which was sponsored by Iranian Cultural Office is a great step toward the Iran-Georgia cultural and literal interactions", he added.

It is worth mentioning that Miss Bela has translated Shahnameh into Georgian language. She has spent more than 40 years for translating this Iranian literal master piece which is more than the years that Ferdowsi himself spent for writing some 60,000 verses.
