Sohrab Sepehri Poems published in Italy

Sohrab Sepehri Poems published in Italy

Sponsored by Iranian cultural office in Rome, a selection of works by Sohrab Sepehri (1928- 1980) has been published in a book in Italian language.

According to the public relations office of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), Arance, a major Italian publishing company specializing in academic and scientific literature, is the publisher of the book entitled "Sino al fiore del nulla" ("Until the Flower of Nothing").

The collection was translated by Nahid Norouzi, an Iranian Ph.D. student of classical philology and Italian studies at the University of Bologna.

"Sino al fiore del nulla" contains 99 poems by Sepehri with the original texts in Persian language.

The name of the book refers to a poem of the same title from Sepehris collection "Eight Books". Professor Carlo Saccone of the University of Bologna wrote a preface to the book. He compared Sepehri to other top Persian blank verse poets including Nima Yushij, Ahmad Shamlu< Mehdi Akhavan Salis and said:"all the poets were familiar with western-style poetry, so the translations of their works have been warmly received by foreign readers."

Norouzi previously translated Najm al-din Kubras "Fawath al-Jamal wa Fawaih al-Jalal" ("Gli shiudimenti del la bellezza e I profumi della maesta") into Italian language.
